HHMI funds exceptional early- and mid-career biomedical scientists through its Investigator Program, providing long-term, flexible support that enables investigators to take intellectual risks and pursue pioneering research. Investigators are selected through a rigorous competition emphasizing the individual scientist over the proposed research. HHMI Investigators are employed by their host institutions but receive HHMI salary and research support.
